It looks damn fine the way it is, and the more you work with it the worse it will be.
I ruined lightened to many etches trying to enhance them.
If and BIG if you cant let it be.
Use a sharpened pencil into the etch. Graphite will highlight and gently polish.
Lastly I dont see any rust. Is this correct??
If no rust the pencil is least invasive if etch has any depth. No depth leave alone.

There is no rust. The reverse side needs some sand paper ..

Adding a bevel will a challenge. Trying to get it as thin as possible , plus there are some chips in the edge.

Maybe some kind of clear plastic would work for scales.

I have so many W&B to work on at the moment that I will oil it up, add a bit of masking tape and bag it up for the time being.
