No it's not a problem at all! No question is stupid and trust me I asked a lot of them to get where I am hahaha... But I would love to answer any questions you have!
So the way I actually shaped and ground those razors was with a 2x72 grinder that I had made... I made a post about that on another thread I'd u wanna check that out... So this Damascus billet is that going to be ur first blade? Only reason I ask is because I know Damascus is expensive and I would recommend using a cheaper material to start with IMO...
Not exactly sure what ur talking about the black stuff? On the last picture there is black on the blade which is actually a reflection and not anything on the blade... I definitely put a serious mirror image on that blade hahaha... Or if ur referring to the black tools inside the tote it is sitting on those are center punches... And if I'm still way off on both those things let me know hahaha!

Thanked: 0You Do have a mirror finish on it! That's the reflection I was referring to - awesome! Yeah, I already ordered one at $40.; Yes, expensive for a 1st attempt, which will probably fail (keep my fingers and toes crossed, lol!) but I've always been fascinated with it. I'm hunting for limited edition Boker they did in Damascus, but I can't even find one on Ebay, so I guess no one is selling!
I plan on using my modified Harbor Freight 2" grinder. I already use it to sharpen knives, so I figure with a new course belt, it might actually work, if not, then back to a grinding wheel.
Thanks for the reply! (So you had to send your work out before this for HT? - forgive me if I misread your post .. )

After I was first done with the polishing I was so astonished I took a video... It's really ready how much of a shine u can put on steel... That's actually really good price for Damascus, at least what I could find... What are the dimensions on the billet?
Yeah good luck! I will keep my fingers crossed for u too! And don't forget to post about the results! I would love to see ur work when ur done! No actually I didn't heat treat this razor because the grind was not to my liking so I just finished it up... I'm actually going to be putting my mistakes on display vs throwing them away... So that's why it's finished... My HT is actually on the way!
