Thanked: 0Hope you don't mind
Hi Guys
I hope you all don't mind me putting this into the resto forum - its hardly a restoration of the standards of most people, but as a first attempt at a full scales-off cleanup I thought it deserved more then the Newbies forum.
So here it is - the blade was an ebay cheapy - I only have the ebay pics but as you can see there was a fair bit of rust on the tang, and the blade was pretty badly pitted and scarred. I have not been able to polish much of the pitting out, but the rust is gone, and its shiny shiny. The scales were covered in scratches and had some poorly done letters (initial of the owner?) in the pin end on the back. I have got most of it out using metal polish.
The pins are 1/16th brass rod with #0w washers, peened using a standard hammer. I have now bought a peening hammer as it was such hard work and I bent 3 pins using the standard hammer...
I have not used the razor as I promised it to a friend, but he tells me that its a really nice shave and that the edge is excellent.
So this is my second razor, but my first set of pins, with more to come. I am currently working on my first set of scales that has a Joseph Elliot hand forged wedge ready and waiting for them. Slowly slowly baby steps

Yep, that counts! You cleaned her up, and brought her back to life = Restored!
Great pin work. That's one of the hardest parts!!
Now that the bug has bitten, we look forward to many restorations to come from you!
Lookin' forward to seeing that Joseph Elliot! (One of my favorite brands)
