Scales On An Old Blade
My son-in-law grabbed some deer antler out of the barn and sawed off a piece to use as some scales for a Torrey blade he purchased on e-bay. I was thinking he might enjoy some input from the guys on this site that does this kind of stuff. I personally can't restore anything

I like the shape of the razor handle but I think it's a bit too big to be functional

This is another brush he made. I don't know where he got the knots for them but they are big and they work well.

Great looking brushes!
As far as the razor goes.... With the antler scales, shave with it....See if it a good balance or not. Might be too heavy. And how does it feel when shaving with it?Is it over there or over yonder?

That is his first attempt and I don't know if the shaving edge has ever been touched. I bet it came dull and he has never honed it. He was just trying to do scales. I think he has been buying old wade butcher blades to put new scales on. I don't now why wade butcher has his interest unless it is the shape of their blades. Thanks for the input Willisf.
