Thanked: 15Can't say I wasn't warned
Nearly ready to pin my first restor then disaster.
Buffing wheel caught the edge and broke the blade parallel to the spine.
Tang broke after explatives and throwing it across the room.

I am currently toasting a frosty New Glarus Two Women in remembrance of your fallen blade. Maybe flip the bird at a few extra people on the way home as well.

Thanked: 2591Sorry for your loss.
You say that the buffer caught the edge, did you buff with the wheels rotating towards the edge?Stefan

Sorry to see that, but it happens to everyone at least once.

Sorry for your loss, it was a nice razor. I always feel better when I look at these things as learning experiences.
Ten fingers I had, and ten remain.
Thank goodness my hands are still the same.

Thanked: 15It's disappointing, for sure. I knew the risks, figured it was a bit of hype, put out for dummies. Turned out I was the dummy and learned my lesson. First, do most of the work by hand, with sand paper. I was trying to work out a blemish that was too much for emery, honestly. Second, never forget direction of rotation. A smaller diameter wheel wouldn't have hurt either. Luckily, nothing hurt except my emotions.
