I put togeter a double duck with original wedge. Opening and closing it feels like gravel in the pivot. Looking at it, it appears the tang edge is catching on the scales or the pivot bushing was a bad idea or not done correctly. I'll look into more when I get home in a month. I'm trying to picture the mechanics.
    Thanks! !

Yep, test fit with tiny mock up bolts. The wedge will affect how high or low the blade sits in the scales. The wedge also works together with the taper of the tang to flex the scales outward so that the tang will just miss the scales when closing. Sometimes when a blade is not centering it's because one side of the tang is hitting a scale on the way down and it causes the blade to get pushed the other way. But, too much angle on the wedge make the scales open too wide and looks funny. Just one more test fit... almost there... ok, last test fit...crap, I lost the tiny bolt again.

Lol, yep sounds about right. I was a bit confused about where the pin should go. I spent the last couple days reading the posts in the stickie. I'm getting a beter grasp on it now. I haven't sourced the 0-80 screws yet. Shipping for 6 screws (allowing for loss) 12 washers and 6 nuts is more than the hardware. There is a fastenal close to home so I'll chat with them. When I get home. Next item to ponder is some smaller, possibly domed locking washers. Maybe a pin vice. I can see dimpling block shooting washers across the shop. Most of this break was spent making jigs and learning processes. Good fun but I get impatient.

[QUOTE=gssixgun;1646420]The rule of thumb actually says you start the operation at 1/2 the thickness of the tang and thin down from there

Yes. Micro fasteners to get it perfect from there.

    Hyperbole is highly exaggerated.
