Thanked: 77Finally finished the w.g. wilton monster!!!
I finally finished my W.G. Wilton 9/8 chopper. All I use is Mothers Polish on the blade to avoid removing what's left of the etching. It's set in translucent Buffalo scales with a brass wedge that ended up looking more like a spacer to keep the weight up on the rear end. Then to top it off I used solid bullseye collars again to keep the weight up on the rear end.
It has a smooth operation that I was never able to get real stiff how I like them but it centers about as good as it's going to get with those wonky grinds.
I was also asked for a shave report so I'll post that as soon as possible.

Very nice work.
I'm a big fan of having a nice patina on a 150+ yr. old razor.
Congratulations and enjoy!

Whadda beast!
I can never get those old things to work right with the blade spacers. Take them out and all tightens-up and closes better! JMO

Looks great! I also like the patina on it. The blade reminds me of some of the E.L. & Co. razors I've seen. Very cool.

Thanked: 4207+1 to the above.
Great job keeping the age.
I too go inner washer less on the big old Brits for the same reason. I can't get them snug to my liking with them installed."Depression is just anger,, without the enthusiasm."
