Polished up the handle some more and moved onto the first scale set.

That's copper dust floating around in there, not air bubbles, something to note for future pours if I want true see through finish.
Good thing I made extras, learned real fast these blanks are delicate. At least the first set I sliced, which were around 1/16" thick.

So this tells me thickness, and grain direction will be relevant on future scale pours so I will have to account for that in burl orientation before the pour, as well as whatever look I'm hoping for out of the final cast product. Brushes will be easier than scales from a planning perspective.

But the finished product is showing potential for sure.

And the blade I silver soldered the punky tail on a few months back will be the lucky test build.

Hope to have this finished up in a few days..

It will likely kill some of the the translucent or transparent features of your resin, but if they are too fragile for scales you could line them with metal or G-10 to beef them up, and if you put copper in the resin then perhaps a copper lining would be appropriate.

I have some brass shim stock that might fit the bill Shaun, that's a good idea thank you.
Only the first set was 1/16. After the first cut I adjusted my rip fence to make the rest 3/16 to give me more meat to work with. Thinking a urethane finish will work with the burl, and the urethane plastic quite well. Sort of hold everything in plane..
