I have never pinned so take this with a grain of salt. In the pic with the blade up, showing the pivot point, the tang is off center. This being so close to the tang area it makes me think the holes are not lined up. Maybe drill them at an angle just a bit to straighten/line them up and repin? Im just guessing here but if the holes are not perfectly lined up this would happen.

Looks like factory scales, so the holes are probably drilled straight.

They are not aligned, because the wedge pin was not tight, when the pivot was pinned and the scales are warped.

Look at the scales at the wedge in photo 3.

The pins are not straight and may be bent. No need to re-drill.

Sorry, I must strongly suggest that you disregard this suggestion. The scales are clearly warped, and re-drilling them will only ensure that they remain warped. Several of the most experienced restorers on this forum have recommended unpinning, straightening the scales, and then carefully repinning to ensure proper alignment and stability. Good luck!

Like I said, I was guessing. Never having done this stuff I didn't want anyone to think to go on what I had to say alone. It was just what I was seeing. Hope you get it all corrected soon. And dont listen to a newbee!

Guys, I ended up using hot water and applying some pressure. Great result in less than two minutes.
Fixing the warped scales might be the long term plan, but for now, I am happy with the result.

    Thank all!
