Gold Bug Restoration
This is a Gold Bug a guy sent me for restoration, although this is actually a rework. He wanted the blade re-plated(all the gold was gone except the monkey tail).I replated the blade, and polished the scales, and repinned. Some of these were originally full gold plated.I dont like the gold too much myself
Best regards Gary

Gary, that razor looks incredible. I am in the process of restoring a gold bug myself and was thikning of replating it. Did you bring it to a jewelers or do it yourself?

Jr ,
I plate them myself,If you want just send it to me,and Ill plate it for you.It just takes a few minutes to do,(a little longer if I have to polish it first)then polish the scales. You just pay the postage both ways....add 15.00 if you want me to hone it.If you do I have to replate the spine after honing, where it touches the hone, and strop(I dont like to tape them for honing).Im a little busy now so it will take about a week.I plate with 14 karat,so it wears much better than the original,or the gold on a double duck Best Regards Gary

Hey Gary,
Looks great! As do all the razors you post!!
Quick question on the gold platting.... How well does the gold actually wear? I mean does it still rub off fairly easy?
Thanks!!
