Time for the first report. Yesterday I honed the razor and today I had my first shave.
What could I say? The honing was not difficult, in the truth very easy. I needed only one attempt, to get the razor to an ultimat sharpness. Waterstone 1000 and 6000, Thüringer, leather strab with Chromoxid green and leather.
In the past I had some W&B that where more tricky to hone...

The shave was very well and soft. This razor is one of my best.

How do you like that 1000/6000? I have a Japanese King waterstone with those grits that I bought for sharpening woodworking chisels. Can I make it do without buying the 4000/6000 Norton? I also have a .5 diamond-pasted paddle.

I like the 1000/6000 waterstone. Was my first. I think its not necessary to buy a 4000/6000 stone. But I use my Waterstone only for razors. If you use it for other things too, be sure, that the stone is ever straigt, before you go with a razor on it.

My favourite stone is the Thuringia.

Worth every cent. But in Germany we can buy it for less then 30 $. This two stones where evers sufficient to hone very sharp razors.

    So true!

I just had a 20x5 cm sent to my father in Germany for $30.06 (that's including $6 shipping )

    Cheers
