    Question Where to buy pins?

I just sent out my design files for my scales to get laser cut, and now need pins for the scales. Does anyone know where/who to buy them from? Im on a tight budget and cant seem to find any reasonable prices with the jacked up costs of shipping.

Hardware stores and hobby stores usually have a K&S display. 1/16 brass works great and costs a few dollars. Finding #0 washers locally can be a bit tougher but most hardware stores have them. They’re just hard to find.

Brad Maggard sells pinning supplies, 1/16" brass or nickel silver rods and washers from his website. I've also bought from Pop's and other knife-making supply houses. You can also get them from eBay, usually with cheap or even free shipping. But yeah, buy local if you can find it to avoid shipping.

Ive found the brass rod at Ace Hardware. But you got to ask for it. Trying to find stuff like that could tak some time wandering.

BTW, i had to mail order the washers. Could not find them anywhere local.

Keep in mind an actual hardware store will have a lot more options than your Home Depot or Lowe's. I got my pins from a local hardware store. They were available at a Hobby Lobby but they probably cost x2 as well.

    isn't laser cutting pretty expensive?
