I don't know about yours, but mine came in a USPS Priority Padded Envelope with about 5 otherUSPS padded envelopes wrapped around the anvil to make a 'rectangular ball'. My guess was so that there weren't any sharp edges etc to mess with the automated machinery. All of the USPS's Priority Packaging is N/C as the cost is supposed to be included in the shipping charge. I'm amazed at how much of that freebie material is inside of packages from FleaBay.
By the way, my postman is pretty smart. He waits until all of the mail has been delivered then drives down the street to deliver 'packages'. I've had lightweight Small Priority Boxes delivered along with large heavy packages 'AFTER' the 'mail' was delivered and I'd recovered it.Our house is as Neil left it- an Aladdins cave of 'stuff'.

Roy,
It came in a priority box that it fit into nicely.
It was stuffed with a ton of pieces of cardboard that were cut and fitted in parallel to the vertical part of the track, and it was packed solid. Pretty engenious packing.

I need to find something like this. I have a piece of steel that is 3" round but only 1/2" thick. A bigger heavier one would be nice. Guess I need to start watching eBay. Maybe Craigslist too.
I also have a mini jewelery anvil, but its just too damn tiny. Looks cool though. It's just Sharpening, right?

If I send something to a really good friend, I load the priority box with insane stuff.
Clean out my desk drawer. Cheap gifts I had been given.
Boy do they piss and moan. Darry sent me his retainer from his youth!
Naturally, I sent it back to him after a year or so.

Jerry,
Go back to page 2 of this thread and click on the link to eBay that Roy posted.
The guy has some real nice pieces of track for pretty short money.

I don't do the amount of work that most of you do, but this 4"x4", 3 pound double sided steel anvil with a rubber base works fine for my needs, and doesn't take up much space. It's surprisingly heavy and the rubber base does a good job of absorbing the shock. I found this one on Amazon, but I'm sure they are available wherever jeweler's anvils are sold.

Looks good Tom. But I think something I can put on the desk would be better in my case.
I did go to the like Roy posted. He's got some pieces that don't look as good as others. The smaller ones might work for me. Got to look around. A couple of those pieces were bent! Or had the top pealing off. It's just Sharpening, right?
