I've read some of the posts on this subject, and most seem to say that the mirror finish is more resistant to rust than the brushed finish.
That's not an issue for me because I put a thin coat of Camellia oil on all my razors, even the ones I have in rotation
Asthetically speaking, I really like the brushed finish, though. I have a couple of Bill Ellis razors and he seems to use that technique. Maybe it's because they are the best shavers I have, but I just like the look of them.

It really depends on your personal preferences. Mirror is more resistant to spotting but you can leave it in satin if you like the look. Another option is to go dual... The spine and the tang in satin and the blade faces in mirror (f.ex.)
