I agree with karl and Jerry. It's easy with bone and wood to get it too thick. It needs to be thinner than you think it will. Especially wood seems that way to me. I have always had a tendency to make them too thick initially and then wind up going back and thinning them down. It's much better when they are thinned out especially with anything really hard. I was always afraid it was going to get too thin and crack but you'd be surprised how thin you can get either wood or bone and it's still plenty stable.
