    Default Mappin Bros. Lancet Edge

Picked this up recently, the scales aren’t original but the blade is in pretty good shape. Just needs a little rubbing with some 0000 steel wool and a little polish at the most.

Well this leads me to my questions.

Is there a pattern for the scales that someone may be able to email me a template. The ones I’ve seen and appear original are all pressed horn bearing the name Lancet Edge Razor in gold leaf. I’m sure there were factory options for different scales. At the very least I want use the scales that the blade is currently in.

The scales are in decent shape. They are missing a few pieces of inlay but I’m confident I can replace those with some abalone I have laying around the yard.

Dying horn. Will this have any negative effect on pearl inlays or the silver wire?

Wow one razor I would love to own, maybe one day.

That said I do have a mappin brothers twin set in ivory I've restored, I just need to hone em up.
. Congrats on getting such a sought after razor

The scales are pretty tight length wise. They look too small, not like they shrunk but like they are off another razor. The shape seems appropriate though and the colors and pins are all NS. So there is a possibility they’re original, but they are of a style I’ve never seen on a Mappin before.

I got incredibly lucky with it. Been lusting after one for a few years now but had never found one in my price range. My real interest in this razor has kind of changed as I got into grinding my own razors. This is one I would really like to reproduce.
