Default Made some scales this week

Cut a cherry tree about 5 years ago - some pieces were lying around so I decided to give it a try. Everything was done by hand , no electricity involved . Big axe to split , small axe to get me a 5/8 thick piece , wood file to flatten and some sanding paper (100 to 500 grit) + drenched in wood oil. Here is the outcome (on top of the leftover pieces).Name: 0D57A115-3CD1-44BF-A7AF-845FECAB3D1A_1_201_a.jpg

    Well done!
I have some cherry about the same age. Might give it a go.

The grain is so rich and deep. Beautiful finish.

I hope you have a blade worthy of them. Please post pics when you have one installed.

Thank you all for the nice comments . Yes I have two candidates . The 504 is a 15/16 with crappy scales ... Them scales have become so brittle that they just keep on breaking . They were glued on several places. A pity I heard too late about the use of liners.
The Belgian made 'Leveaux' is a true wedge , 6/8 , made mid 19th century , missing wedge ... scales are ok - will also give me an opportunity to do a thorough cleaning
I am leaning towards the Leveaux as I consider the Bartmann scales as a must on a 504 ?
    Don't know yet.
What do you guys think ?

I agree with you. The profile of the scales you made seems very similar to the scales on the Leveaux. Can’t tell how the proportions work without seeing the scales beside the razor.
