I received the beginner set of hones from Tilly (Redtrader99) today, and have started honing out the chips in the edge. I also rounded the tip slightly since the spike point was chipped, so now it's more of a square point.

Honing is fun, so far! Remains to be seen how badly I screw up the edge with my inexperienced honing...

don`t be worried about honing ,there is no black magic or mystical art to it ,just keep the blade flat and as little pressure as possible when your just starting out till you get the feel for it. when I started I had no one to show me but with a bit of perseverance I got there ,I don`t pretend the be a honemister, far from it ,but I can get a blade sharp enough to shave comfortably ,and after all thats what counts
    Have fun and good luck
    Kind regards peter
