    Not done yet!
So any scope mount has the scope so high you have to add a cheek riser and use a chin
weld. This sucks.. Mine came with a home-made mount...uh....NO!

I had to get the scope down. Found and bought another receiver top and milled/smoothed the sight off.
They can be swapped in half a minute for scope or not..Name: mas 029.jpg

So I was hard into this shit. lots of hours and busy fingers...
Found out about an MSE version.....Cool!

HEY! Mine has the good '+' 2-stage trigger!

I managed to round-up all the parts NOS from France and forum members....Cheek risers and butt plates are unobtainable!! found an original scope mount on ebay to discover the scope to fit it costs a grand! NO high cheek risers were available ANYWHERE!

The old covid gloom and doom set in. I need money! WTF? Sold it at a few hundred bucks profit on Gunbroker.
Was on there for all of 30 minutes. Should have asked for more!

Spent that...Was pissed about it, though. Thought I might just get another stock (which was available) and just use a FAL grip and a slip-on buttpad. Poboy it.
Got the stock from the Frenchman. Set about making a recoil pad to fit the proper way.
A grind-to fit Hogue pad, a hunk of G-10. I had never fitted a pad before. Youtubes and off I went.

So I was about to cobble the FAL grip on...Stimulus came!
Emailed the Frenchman. Asked to let me know if he found an original grip, low cheek riser, and the short stock extension.
Although he had not listed it on his site, he had it all. Send it!
Removed the old stock. Found some cracks! Probably from it's old grenade-launching days..

Got it stained as best I could. Found you don't just screw a stock on...Need a special tool!

Undeterred, I cobbled together some pipe clamps, c-clamps, blocks of wood and got it on..

Happy with it, my custom mount down low with a nice modern scope combined with the low cheek riser and ergonomics of the stock comb and grip, length of pull make for a much better, more comfy shooter.

While I seemed to be an expert at it, I did up 3 more mags since I had all the stuff.

Stole the other sling swivel off the dilapidated .22 on the wall. Got it all done.

    Fin!

Thanks! It shoots pretty soft, Mike. Everything is milled and machined. Made like a (French) tank.
I have only ventured 50 yards so far what with adjusting the valve and testing function.
Next time out, I hope to shoot 100 after dialing the scope in.

    Yup, it’s French alright, hehe..

But still damn cool looking build.
Here I thought you just stained it or added a sight maybe.
But you went deep in that resto mod job.

    That's one awesome project Tom.
    Very ingenious and crafty.
Gave you some tinkering time for sure.

Even the Mini - Trail is super cool...

So someone did something productive during the lockdowns and stay at home period?
    Let's see!

I, for one, would just love to see a pond made from a fiberglass satellite antenna!

    .

Perhaps tomorrow I can take and post some pics of all that has been going on here.
Got me cataracts removed and new lenses installed. Th prescription eyeglasses will come in June.
Got my hearing tested and the new hearing aids will arrive in July.
My St. Paul house is getting cleared out and further repaired and painted. The attic is now 75% cleared out! the remainder should be out on Saturday.
The custom china cabinet is now gone and most of the glassware has been given away to family and friends. Unfortunately found 2 large cracks in the plaster wall behind the china cabinets. Time for some durabond cement and tape then repaint the dining room. The rest of the rooms are already repainted.
The octagon table, writing desk and drop leaf table have been spoken for and will be moved later this summer.
The two 6 ft cabinets and the three 6 ft book shelves will be moved to my house in Wisconsin in a month or so.
Plans are being made to tear down the old deck at the back of the house and build a new set of stairs for the back door.

Since I decided to sell this house and move to the house in Wisconsin I had to hire a contractor to do almost all the work there.
So far all new doors and storm doors, new windows, two new laminated floors, all cracks in the walls repaired. Started replacing the siding and discovered there was no insulation in the wall! So, tear off the old siding, remove the tar paper, removed the ship lap boards. Then install a vapor barrier, the 3" of insulation batts, then replace the ship lap boards, then house wrap, then more insulation board, then the siding.
The attic was also was filled with an additional 12" of blown in fiberglass insulation in addition to the 6 " of cellulose insulation that was already installed.
Oh, when this started we discovered that the sill plate, rim board and ledger board were all rotted out and had to be replaced. So the contractor jacked up the North side of the house and replaced those boards.
The cable Internet will be installed tomorrow.
Oh, a new roof will be installed this summer.
My neighbors and me insulated and sheet rocked the 24x40 garage last fall and installed a electric heater to warm it up a bit in the winter.
I also insulated the inside of the basement in the house which is also heated with an electric heater. Much nicer to work in.
The motorcycles are coming along but much slower than expected. The 2001 Yamaha Vstar 650 is running just fine. The 1999 Yamaha Vstar 1100 needs a new sprague gear for the starter clutch. The 1984 Honda Goldwing 1200 Standard needs new brake lines. The old ones are to soft and flex to much when pressure is applied. Found a motorcycle repair shop that installed a new ring gear on my clutch assembly for my 2002 Harley Heritage softail and did not charge me thru the nose. The 2003 Kawasaki Ninja ZX 900 now has a new fuel filter and fuel pump. Runs just fine. Needs to have a few pieces of new plastic installed.
The 1999 Honda Valkyrie 1500 still has a bit of a problem to be sorted out but should not be to difficult. The two Harley project bikes are still in the basement of the house and will be worked on next winter.

I could write a bunch more but you get the picture.

    Damn, Randy. Busy lately? Lol.
I had an 84 Goldwing Aspencade. Restored it myself. Fun bike.
