Thanked: 562It’s pretty easy to use brass rod. Clamp it (some folks use a drill chuck) and peen one end. Push it through with a washer, cut to length and peen with a washer on the other end.
I’ve used these “nails” as well as brass rod and there really is very little difference in effort or time required and it does not justify the added cost. Take the leap!David

Thanked: 44I do know how to peen traditional pins, I was looking for the Dovo pins because I have a few modern production German razors I'm cleaning up where I've only had to drill out the pivot end so want the pins to match each end of the razor. I've tried pinning with some nickel silver rod I have but it doesn't look the same and if I can help it I don't want to bother drilling out the wedge ends just to make everything look even. Another difference is that the cup washer they use seems noticeably smaller in height and width than the ones I buy.
