The scales are zebrawood. (This I'm sure will cause some interspecies issues that I'd rather not explore...) I patterned them after the originals.

The spacer is brass. These photos are from just after I pinned it. The spacer wasn't shaped quite right, so I have ground it down a bit with my Dremel. Now I have to refinish the wood in that spot... Doh.

I pulled the Puma logo off of the scales and embedded it in a small pocket of CA. The scales are finished in Tung Oil.

The blade centers nicely, but the pivot isn't consistently tight when opening the razor.

I'm pretty happy overall. I'll be honing this one up soon to see how it shaves. Still haven't decided whether I want to keep it, mainly because I have more razors than I need right now...

    Comments welcome.

Josh, nice wok. What else can be said except that if you want, I'll be more than happy to test it for you.

Nice wood selection, and I like how well the Puma logo looks re-attached to the new scales.

Josh, great work, that looks fantastic! Really like the Zebrawood scales. There have already been enough offers to "test" this razor so I say keep it and let us all wonder/dream about your shaving nirvana...or you could send it to me for testing...

Nice job Josh. I like the Zebrawood and the idea of using the original Puma insignia.................

I did pick the zebrawood on purpose to contrast with the case... It worked out pretty well, especially once I put the Tung Oil on...

I worked out the slight frown this baby had, so we'll give 'er a test shave soon...

Finally had a chance to finish honing the Puma last night... It had a little spot in the middle where the bevel still wasn't quite right after Operation Frown Out (which involved some high-angle grinding on the DMT--not for the faint of heart).

The spine is pretty unusual on this razor. It is flat, almost like you'd see on a razor that's been honed to a stub. But the blade didn't look unusually worn, and the way the shank meets the blade has me convinced the spine was flat to begin with. The light hone wear that developed as I worked on it seemed to confirm this. Only the edge of the spine closest to the blade seems to touch the hone.

The shave this morning was pretty fantastic. The right side of my face was as close after one pass as it often is after two.

Given my recent guitar purchase, I think I will be selling this razor off. I have a couple of PMs from potential buyers, but if they don't bite look for a posting in the FS forum....
