    Man, that really sucks! I would make a round point out of it. That way you don't lose much overall length and it shouldn't encroach on that etch. Unless you're well versed and well set up I would stay away from the bench grinder and use a belt sander dipping in water often to reduce heat.

    If you don't feel comfortable doing that I would send it out. There are a number of people qualified to take on that project. Mike (Outback) is the master. I imagine he will be a long soon. If not I'll send you a PM later.

    Check out the "butchered blade" thread, in the workshop part of the forum. Clunkers and junkers brought back to life. Shorties..as we call um.
