    Thank you all for the gently comments.

    No I think, I dont have to protect the spine. First, this razor is very easy to sharpen. You need only a little time on the stones with very little preasure. The second and more important, the spine dont lay on the stone between the sharpening process. The point, where the blade touch the stone, is under the spine.

    I have to say I prefer the razor As it looks now you've done an amazing job.
    I prefer razors without any goldwash on them.Paul
