Thanked: 267Was asking because if you ever sold it the guy that bought it might not like tightening it up all the time. Once you get the right tension and lock tite it down will it stay at the same tension? I like the look of the bolts but pinning it might be better for a sold razor?
Thanks,
Richard

I've sold plenty... Some guys request regular pins, some guys request adjustable. It's all personal preference. I am actually liking regular pins at the spacer and adjustable at the pivot. This was requested by a guy for some restores I am doing for him.

Thanked: 267Thanks a lot. I am in the middle of putting on a set of scales on my own razor. I will eventually buy the "Restoration" CD but for now just asking what is normal.
Thanks,
R

Thanked: 1Sticky Please
In support of Spanner, RMC_SS_LDO and Gatorfan; I think having one more informative STICKY would maintain interest in restoration methods.

One solution would be to tighten up to the correct tension, cut the bolt off about a mm too long, file smooth and then... peen it!
Although I really think the green Loctite would be OK, too. I suspect the blue would be so strong that to release it you might just twist the tiny brass bolt in two.

Does anyone use bushings of some sort with the 0-80 size screws? The hole in the tang of my Wade & Butcher is just barely (and I mean _barely_) larger than 7/64, which is nearly twice the size of the 0-80 screws.
If I didn't use some sort of bushing would I want to use a larger screw size? The hole in the tang is probably around 0.1 inches plus or minus a few thousandths. This website lists 3-48 as 0.983 inches.
Thanks.

You can use bushings with the 0-80 screws, yes. The inner diameter needs to be 1/16. The tubing that usually displays this is 3/32" tubing. But at that it has a 3/32" OD, and if you need something bigger in terms of outer diameter, you would either need to use another bushing with a 3/32 ID for the 3/32" tubing, or figure out something else. At that point I don't think it is worth trying to figure out.
