"Unfinished"? Not really. Actually, it boils down to a matter of personal preference. Once I get some scales made, I plan on using microfasteners (like those pictured) on my razors kept for personal use. It will make them much easier to dry and clean... completely. Think of it as "field stripping" your razor after a shave .
Decades away from full-beard growing abilities.

Thanked: 23That is a neat idea. One thing I haven't seen is a bolt type pivot like I use on some of my folders. Smallest I've seen I think is 1/8" dia., I normally use 3/16" for folders. I'll take a look and see if I can find any 3/32" or smaller. That would make getting the tension just rite easier and as you say, "field stripping".

Thanked: 13249Threaded bolts, barrels, and nuts, were all the rage in fact Gary/Traveller was one of the first to use them, very few people do any longer..
They are awesome for "Field Stripping " as you called it, yet terrible for keeping a tight Pivot
Try it yourself, many found that a healthy application of LockTight would help..
The constant loosening and tightening might also be the cause of so many Pivot area cracks I see and repair

Thanked: 480I had a razor with Traveller made scales, and it came with the threaded nut. They were really beautiful, and over all an excellent job, and while it certainly was nice to be able to take it apart as desired, i did not like the aesthetic or the way I couldn't stop myself from rubbing my thumb over the nut over and over again in a fit of OCD.
However, I see nothing at all wrong with using them as a permanent pin, after they have been properly adjusted and thread locked. If I had one today I would polish them smooth and not worry about disassembly
