My first restoration / scales

This was my first time working with that wood. It's got to be the most dense stuff I've ever used. Not cheap up our way either! It started taking a polish when I was sanding it with 1500 grit, so I didn't finish it with any kind of coating. I just buffed it out with tripoli, white compound, and then wax.

Just curious where you got the wood? It will not rot and bugs do not like it. It is extremely dense and really is wood that has many colors you can not see in a picture. The blade took a tremendous amount of work.

For a first restoration you've done a great job. Love that Brazilian Rosewoog, nice finish. And the penning looks great.

There's a local exotic wood dealer that had some very small pieces of Brazilian rosewood.
