Default Naked Blade Storage... Protect those edges

So you have a bunch of blades that have been de-scaled, you may remove the scales for any number of reasons… gassing celluloid, restoring blade etc… but you just don’t have time to finish and rescale now.
Can’t throw them in the to-be-fixed drawer/box, that’ll get the edges chipped.

So my question is; how do you store and protect the edge?

I came up with an idea that I would like to share… maybe there is a better idea out there.

I get these credit card offers in the mail and most come with “sample” cards, some made of cardboard.
I fold it lengthwise around the spine, put a metal binder clip around it and close the binder.
To remove just squeeze the binder clip, the card will open and pull out the blade, the card will remain in the clip.

    Check out the pix below…
The blade rests unmolested right between the folded card, the spring tension prevents the blade from slipping out even with rough treatment.

    Notes:
    - If you fold the card the other way (blank side out) you can write on the card… sort of like a patient’s chart.
    - I tried with the plastic cards but they don’t fold very well.
    - Don't have to remove the binder handles, can flip forward, I remove to make child/wife proof (lock and key?).
    - Blades larger than 7/8th? Use a bigger card and binder, doesn’t have to be credit card sized card stock.

    Edit:
Like I said before, the plastic ones don't work well... unless there is a way to bend it so you get the 3/16th double bend visible in the last pic.
Any paper card stock will work... thin enough to bend, stiff enough to protect the blade and withstand rough handling.

Good idea. I have been wrapping mine in toilet tissue and storing in baggies but this looks quick and easy.

    Great idea!

I just use the blue masking tape on the edge of mine. Need to replace it when ever I show some one the blades though......
