Somebody Please SHOOT ME!!! (part 1)
Because I 'll tell this story with a bunch of pictures, I'll post it in parts.
You know from the title that this story isn't going to end good...
I found this little beauty for next to nothing at a garage sale. Wow my first Dubl Duck!
Yes it has a lot of rust, but I haven't seen too many SatinEdge's that are 11/16. here are the before pics:

Somebody Please SHOOT ME!!! (part 2)
Got all of the rust off and there is pitting on the blade, the one thing that I saw that made my heart sink was the crack about 1/3 of the way up from the heel, but everything else cleaned up pretty good.
Scales look great!!!

Somebody Please SHOOT ME!!! (part 3)
Then hell opened up and swallowed me hole!!!!
I was polishing the blade up a little with some MAAS and a dremel finishing abrasive buff, I got a little too close to the toe and POP!!! One Dubl Duck Satinedge down the crapper.
This kind of damage is way out of my league.
Anybody want some DD Satinedge scales??

Thats terrible...I know what it like to mess up a blade with a dremel At least the scales look really good! Did you use maas on them?
Maybe it can be the first DD Coochie razor?

you may be able to shorten the blade - there's plenty of edge left.
i do have a SE blade that I've been looking for a set of scales for, but what concerns me is the original pitting - could the celluloid be rotting?
if you send me the scales i'll certainly keep them with another blade separate from everything else for a while and see how they react.
Edit: my bad not reading - yeah with crack 1/3 from the heel it does seem gone...Last edited by gugi; 07-05-2008 at 07:20 PM.

Condolences... but the best thing i think you are going to get out of the deal is the dd inlays. it looks like the effects of rot on that blade.
Be just and fear not.
