Thanked: 94I've done the "spacer" method to fix some warped scales recently and what worked for me was:
1) Find an appropriate spacer (ice block sticks are pretty damn good, just need to be trimmed to length).
2) Use electrical tape to bind the scales and spacer closely, having the blade at 90 degrees to the scales.
3) Dip in boiling water, using the blade as a convenient way to hold the razor.
4) repeat the dips as described by gssixgun.
I will repeat the warning about using distilled water

What are the chances of doing this with horn scales? I assume that's what mine are as they are black, with some grain, and came off of a Wosty with a short tail.

Thanked: 13249Horn works best with my new system, and using steam IME
All the new system is
Two pieces of 1/2 inch thick oak 7x3
Multiple 1/4 inch holes drilled randomly through the middle of them (think where the scales would be)
Two 2 inch screw clamps
I put the scales in there and gently clamp them in,, Then use the Shot-o-Steam iron a few times, to make them a bit flexible and slowly tighten the clamps,,, Steam , tighten, steam, tighten repeat... The important part here is the 1/2 thick material this keeps to much heat away from the scales
Then leave them alone until the next day...
Easy peasy

A couple of my most priced razors has some problems with scale warping. I'm reluctant to have new ones put on them, so this was just the right information!
Thanks a lot.
I will try this in the next few day I think!Bjoernar
