The blade has a couple of stains and pinpoint rust spots. What's the best way for me to remove them but still maintain the etching on the blade. Can I just polish it out with a metal polish? I have other blades but this is the only one that had shown any rust since I have gotten them. Are some blade more prone to rusting? How can I help prevent that?

Pictures would help since you mentioned etching. I usually used steel wool (#0000) and some soap. Touch it up with some polish. Be very careful around gold plating and such. The polish will take that off fairly fast.
