You mention cosmetic polishing. It may be obvious but it's a whole lot easier & safer to do before its shave ready.
You know I have done exactly that with all my other st8s. This blade before I attempted the edge repair either did not have the scratches or I did not see them. I will have to look back at the before pics. I think that some how I manged to scratch her face.

For sure Red. That's what I do but I only use a wet grinder at about 150 rpm. Wouldn't even consider a dremel or high speed grinder. I'm sure there are expensive belt grinders that can be speed adjusted but I think I paid about $50 & its a quick fix.

I had to breadknife a smaller W&B wedge due to some bad chips (turned out there was a crack so it wasn't salvagable, but never mind) and the actual breadknifing took very little time at all. I don't think it would be worth going for a power tool to do it, really.

I finished the honing on Tue and shaved with her this am. This blade is so nice. Hefty feel and glides across my chin like no other that I have. I am still working on my honing skills and she might could go a little sharper. I will strop on the linen and leather next shave and see , but overall I am very pleased with the shave.
