    Give it a light sand. Won't tell you if its bone or ivory but the celluloid smell of camphor can be eliminated.
    Bone will likely look more porous than ivory under magnification also.
    The white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.
