    Default Pine scales?

Has anyone used pine for scales? Due to a home renovation/addition that is underway, I'm going to have a large amount of antique heart pine scrap. It's from 100 year old beams recovered from a cotton mill that have been milled into flooring. It's hard stuff. Not the pulp wood that is being used in the building industry today.

I don't see why not, you are saying that it is not a soft wood which would be my concern with Pine... Make sure it is completely sealed and you should be fine...
Of course you are going to have to figure out how to balance it...

I think it will work fine . If you can use it for flooring , it should also work fine for scales .
