Thanked: 1717 day set of DAs?! Brilliant!!
Maybe since the use of different woods is the key, you could brand the days into the scales. That would be a little different and could look pretty good too, IMO.

Thanked: 4My local jeweler said he could engrave the spine of a straight razor. I guess if he can engrave the inside of a lady's ring, he can engrave the spine of a razor.

Thanked: 13249Update !!!!
These are getting closer now this first pic is right after sanding them all to the same size and shape.. You can see I haven't sanded in an edge bevel yet but they are all the same thicknesses now...
This is the first one (Amboyna Burl) to be fitted I am using African Blackwood for the wedges, Note the adjustable pins are still on at this point so I can check the fit and function... I will change those to peened brass pins when I put them together after they are finished...

Thanked: 13249There are finishing up !!!
This is my number 2 razor of course Maier the owner of this set can put them in which ever order he choses
I had to number each razor and each set of scales and each wedge keep them all in order...Although they were made to be as close to identical as possible, they are still a natural handmade product and there will always be tiny variations....
Note the heel, the rough shoulders (compare to the razor above) that are a trademark of the DA's have been ground back, and the heel has been slightly reshaped so that the razors sit evenly on a hone ....
This is Leopardwood...

Thanked: 13249Purpleheart
This one is the Purpleheart, I really liked this piece of wood too it had some distinct graining. so I put that mark on the wedge end of the show side....
You can see the heel work a little better in this pic too...
