Thanked: 151Well, look at it this way. The TI scales in a nice wood range up to $125 so go figure. I have some old plastic scales form time to time that I can let you have for about $3 a pair. I'll have to look and see how many I have. PM me later if you are interested and I'll send some pics and then you can let me know if you want them. I also have some wood blanks that you could shape and deal with your self, you would just have to drill some wholes and make your own wedge.
Good Luck!Last edited by treydampier; 06-21-2009 at 01:35 PM.

Thanked: 13246I actually have quite a few sets of old scales, imagine that, I had never even considered selling them, I have always just kept them around, and given them away when somebody needs a set of scales for an old razor so they can shave....
Fitting them has always been the problem, you need to have a ton sitting around, so you can pick out the ones that will fit certain razors, but then again I am extremely picky about the toe to wedge fit....Looking at razors like TI produces with that huge gap between the toe of the razor and the wedge makes me cringe....
Sorry off on a tangent there....
Anyway I will go through the box and see how many complete sets I have out there....
You guys just want sets of scales right????

Thanked: 2Yes, old plastic scales would work for me! i just need something to put on some old restoration projects.
wooden blanks would also work. i'd like to sand them to shape that would be fun.
I sent PM's to those who have posted. If anyone has anything that would work please PM me, I'm open for suggestions!

I'm going to try to make parts for a bunch of scaling kits this weekend...details, pricing to follow.
I'm looking at:
2 scale blanks
1 wedge section (much longer than you need....fit razor and cut to size)
3 brass pins
Brochure of instructions for shaping, drilling, sanding, finishing, pinning.
Anything else people would like to see in a DIY rescaling kit?

Thanked: 21BK,
One of the hardest things for me to find locally are correctly-sized washers, both for the outside of the scales, and along the pivot. (Some of the old blades don't sit nicely in the scales, so an extra washer balances it out.)
Please add a handful of washers to that list, and I'd be pretty interested.
Thanks.
J.

Phil et al-
I'm sorry to say I'm running a bit behind schedule, but I'll send everyone who expressed interest (or who sends me a PM about it from hence forward) a PM about it in the next week or so with details. Thanks!
