    Brad if I could add two things to your technique.

    Allow for spring-back. Whenever we bend something like this some allowance should be made for a slight return to pre-bend state. Springback.

    Cool, set the piece while in position. whether in a form or hand; hold the piece in position while cooling.

    You can also "over-straighten" by putting a opposite bend in them, so when they start to flex back, it "relaxes" into a straight position.
