I would start with 80 or 120 grit on that one. I use 80, 120, 180, 240, 400, 600, 800, 1200, 1500 and 2000. A magnetic sanding block can be useful so you can sand while watching TV/movies. Be prepared to be sanding for 10-20 hours. (I'll be switching to (polishing) pastes because I lack the patience)

until the marks from the previous grit are completely erased.
20 hours may be an exaggeration.

Spend all your time on the lowest grit you decide to use -- for as LONG as it takes to remove all the pitting and deep scratches near the bevel. Then, periods of about 30 minutes on each grit thereafter. Of course, if u see all previous grit scratches are removed, you can move on. Just make 100% sure you spend the majority of your time on the lowest grit.

For example, I use 10x as much 220 grit paper as I do 400, 600, 1000, etc. So, I always stock up on 220, as I find thats a pretty good place to start for the "average" hand sanding restore. If a blade is super, super pitted, I will start at 80grit as previously mentioned in this thread.
