You are probably good to go. If you can't see a chip or crack.

I have gotten so that I use a rug under my feet in front of the sink and under my strop. It has saved me more than once when I was starting out. I also have a towel next to the sink to lay the razor down between passes, kinda a "safe" zone. Started doing this when I lost my first razor, 1/4" crack in the blade. It has served me well.

Give it a few laps on the stop, even of you cannot see any damage, if there is a fresh chip or a ding on the edge, it will scratch the surface of the strop.

If you see no scratches on the strop then you should be OK.

I had a towel and even had the thing laying on it. tried to be as careful as possible then wouldn t you know, I drop the dang thing. I use the carpet, thats a good idea. hey, whats wrong with using a tissue to wipe the oil off the blade. I made sure that I didnt touch the edge, just the sides. seems to be getting grief???

Try to get a magnifying glass or a Jeweler's loupe, There cheap, You want to be sure and check the bevel for small chips...As previously stated, it may show up when you strop...

If the razor opened after it hit the floor there may be a part of the edge that is slightly folded over or chipped. Magnification & a good light source should confirm or deny damage.
BTW 16 of mine hit the deck when the shelf they were on collapsed. The only one that was damaged was not in a coffin. It happens.

I just did this also two days ago! On a blade I just got back from Lynn. Don't mean to hyjack, but what if you do see a very small fold in the blade??? I seen it and I could straighten it out on my fingernail. What then?

    THanks

Well, theoretically speaking that area of steel is now weaker than the rest of the edge.
Personally, I would prefer to hone it out but I'm pretty obsessive. If you've managed to straighten it you could go ahead & strop it up & just use it. The shave should tell you if more is needed.

When I dropped a razor on the tile floor, it was obviously open at the time, because there was a visible piece of edge broken off and flapping in the breeze.
