    Default Polishing compound

What's the best formula and process to produce a mirror finish on a vintage blade? I've watched the video but I'm still kind of confused....

    Any input?

Plenty of guys recommend MAAS. I bought some and cleaned up a couple of blades with it and they look really nice. I think that it works pretty well. But I have only used it on a couple of blades...

    dawill,

I picked up my MAAS at a Super Wal Mart, on the cleaning products aisle. It is a tube, much like a tube of toothpaste, so you are looking for a gray box about toothpaste size.

It should be in the aisle which has Brasso and other metal cleaners.

A truly mirror finish takes a long time to attain. The process is very slow, so don't get discouraged. Also, Flitz is good too, but you can get more Maas for the $$.

Whatever you do, don't order it from Maas! It took 3 weeks to get the stuff. Parcel Post sucks.

BTW - I don't think you can get a mirror finish with Maas as a last step. There must be some kind of mild abrasive in it. I followed it with a chamois buffing wheel dry and that really polished it up. Of course Bill would know better.

Be careful of over heating your razor. You can draw the temper that way and ruin it.

    Just my two cents,
