Thanked: 11sad day :( broke my handles
well this morning after my shave, i set my razor on my bathroom sink counter and then i reached in my medicine cabinet to grab some Vaseline and i accidentally knocked the Vaseline jar onto my razor, then it broke in 2 pieces! man i was upset!!! its frustrating because i have no income as a college student and now i need to spend some money on new handles.
i was wondering if anyone has some simple handles they can put on my razor for a decent price. i would prefer black handles since the originals were black. again, i don't need anything fancy and i want to spend as little money as possible. any help would be very very appreciated!

Chris,
first it would help to tell us where you're located. Second we're not allowed to discuss any pricing in the open forum. You can always look through the members services at the classifieds.
What scale material were the originals as for them to brake in 2?
It's sad this happened but it'll work out. There's always light at the end of the tunnel.

The only thing you will need for the Dovo scales are: Small hammer, solid surface.

Thanked: 74if you've never pinned before, a table spoon is probably a good suggestion. Pretty hard to screw it up by hitting too hard with a spoon. It takes a little longer, but far safer. And, you probably have 1 or 2 laying around.

I definitely could be wrong, but I don't think you'll be able to pin a razor with a spoon. You need a little force to mushroom the pin and then cinch it shut. A peen hammer and a light touch shouldn't be tough to accomplish.
OTOH, I'd take advantage of the loose blade and get some nice new handles thrown on. +1 on Max's suggestion for checking the Member's Services - it's really where you want to look. A few guys on there turn out really spectacular work and could take a basic razor and turn it into something special. Just keep in mind that some of these guys have a long waiting list, so if this is your only razor you'll need to buy a new one for the interim or find out who can turn it around quick enough for you.

That kit and a spoon is really all youll need for a cheap and easy way to git'er done. Then save up and get another so that you've got a back up for times like these.

Thanked: 530I don't know about the spoon, But I've tightened Peened pins with a maglite... (peened is the kind you need force to whack together, hence, the spoon)
You could do it with a spoon, given a LOT of time... I'd recommend a maglite, or a metal, flat bottomed, cup... Maybe the handle of a pocket knife...
Some scrap metal taped to a stick?
It's doable, you just need to improvise
