Very nice. What was the lowest grit paper that you had to use?

Thanks, guys!
When I went to the hardware store and took a look at the sandpaper, the highest grits they had were "320-b" and "400-b." I asked one of the employees if they had anything in the 1000 to 1500 range and he looked at me a little funny. "No, nothing that high," he said. "What are you doing with it?"
I told him I was going to be polishing metal.
But anyhow, I bought a couple of sheets of each. The 400 is really quite smooth. I bet you could barely light a match on it.
The razor definitely has a better finish now, but there are some spots on the blade (which you can't really see in that picture) that just don't want to come out. I guess I'll have to buy my next Dubl Duck in better condition if I want a mirror finish. In the meantime, it's still going to be a functional razor.
I honed it a killer edge while watching the first bit of the Oscars earlier. For the hair test, I rolled up my pijama pant leg and slowly swooped the razor through my leg hair, about a centimetre from the skin. "Ting! Ting! Tink! Tink-tink-t-Ting!" they went, popping every which way.
I couldn't resist not trying it at that point, so I hopped in the shower and had a great shave afterwards. It may not be as shiny as my other razors, but the edge is definitely the best.
And speaking of the edge, I can still detect a very slight bit of the original nick. That shouldn't matter, should it? It didn't cause any complications while shaving and it's probably pretty sharp in its own right, insignificant as it is.

Blade,
Check an auto parts store for finer grits of sandpaper...think automotive restoration!

Unless you have a small pit you should be able to get the spot out with 400. Just have to be patient with the sanding.
The 400 is smooth for wood, metal polishing needs to go higher, 1500 to 2000 if you want a mirror finish.
Randy is right, look for automotive supply. I found 400, 800, 1000, 2000 grit at Walmart in the automotive section.

Okay, I'll definitely check out Wal-Mart's automotive section and see if I can find some fine sandpaper. I like the fact that the razor shaves really well as it is, but will be made to shine more with continuous sanding as I use it more.
I'll think I'll skip on the fishnets, vladsch. Ha ha. I wasn't shaving down to the skin or anything -- just popping a few leg hairs at around half their length. I've got long leg hair, by the way. I barely have any arm hair left from testing edges, so you've gotta dow what you've gotta do. Heh.
