    +1 on rust prevention.

    It may just settle down with time so do not be too quick
    to try aggressive solutions (err solvents).

    Most obvious solvents that would remove the wax will also
    remove rust prevention. In little or no time you
    will have a bit of rust that you may not want
    and will then abrade the hinge area. Then you will
    need to protect the region again.

    It may be that a drop of camilla oil will do the trick
    and remove the slick wax. That would be first
    on my list of things to do. Add a drop and then
    the next day let it draw into tissue from the other side.

    I have a razor that has not yet respond to a gentle
    tap-tap-tap I am considering bees wax or paraffin to "gum"
    up the hinge.

    It is a friction fit and hard to get right.

    It's not like the stuff will last forever in there. I a short time I estimate it will return to normal.
