Default Finally went out and did it!

Got the Dovo scales (satin finish)

for my Duckling whose scales are beyond repair:

I guess I'll have to look into the archives to see how they're supposed to be mounted lol.

Edit: Also bought the Bay Rum aftershave and another item. With shipping it came out to about $60US. No more purchases for a while. Totally tapped out lol.
Edit#2: Satin Finish (don't like the highly polished look)

Yeah.. I'll definately need some advice on mounting it, such as:
    1) The drill-bit size
    2) Right hole location
    3) How to make sure I drill straight down so the pin is aligned properly.
In any case I'll have to wait for a bit before I have to worry about that.. For starters, I'll clean/disinfect the duckling and get'er started on the hone. Once I remove the old scales, I'll also give her a bit of tip to tang polish

The last thing you do i hone
The hole size is 1/16 if its not already drilled in the scales.

Thanks Randy. The scales are fully assembled, all I have to do is drill the hole. I guess they wanted it like that so that we can balance the blade properly with the scales. Speaking of which...
    1) How do I determine the right spot to give the blade and the scales a perfect balance?
    2) Are there any tips/tricks to make sure the holes are properly aligned on both sides od the scales?

Well the Duckling arrived today. It's definately seen some kind of a fire b/c the scales are shrunken and deformed. I have 2 questions for the experts:

    1) Do I just cut the pin to remove the blade from the scales? If not, how do I do it?

    2) There is dark staining on the blade. The edge seems nice and shiny (just dull) but I'm worried that the temper might have been compromised. How do I determine if it has or not?

You can file away the pin with a, uhm, file... And for the blade, use MAAS or some other metal polish, sharpen the baby, shave, and then you'll know...

Cool. I may even swing by Walmart today. On a good note, I don't have to worry about the bleach damaging the scales, since they're already so gone, I can't even save the brass lol. Thank you gentlemen

You better worry about bleach damaging the blade. Don't soak too long, you'll rust the baby...
