Default First restoration, where to get rod and washers from Europe?

    Hi,

I'm trying to restore this eBay special, but can't find the rod and washers to finish the work.

Does anyone know where to get those shipped from Europe?

Also here, the before and after photos.

    Thanks in advance,
    /cj

Try this. Not sure if their shipping is International, however, a quick email to them would answer that question.

There are five sets of pins/washers in the package.

    Good luck,

Even if other site would ship to EU, I will have bigger shipping time/cost plus VAT.

"The Invisible Edge" seems to be the answer.

    Thank you!

You can find brass rods from hobby shops that sell RC cars and planes. I think i've seem those shops in Tallinn or Tarto. Usually they sell small washers too, but they might be little too big. At least for my taste. With the right gear it is easy to tune these washers into smaller size.
If you ever happen to visit on the north side of the gulf you might check hobby stores in Helsinki. They have all the necessary gear. They have websites also. Try google.

btw. That is a real nice razor you have there. Did you find it from Estonia?

2 or 3 years ago i bought nice Le Grelot from antique shops in Tarto. I was amazed that how did that French beauty ever end in Estonia. German razors are somewhat common there but that was the only French razor i've ever seen there.

    Donald,

I got my brass rod from a model shop; they stock 1/16 " (1.59mm) & 1.5 mm sizes.

You are quite welcome to have some of my rod & washers if you like. If so, please PM me your address.

    Have fun !

    Best regards

    Russ

Yes, I've found couple of RC stores in Estonia, but they were all closed because of the summer vacations But next week I'm in Helsinki for few days, maybe I can find a ball peen hammer as well there. You know any names I should google for?

No, I bought it from France via eBay. Tartu really? that's quite rare, all the razors I find locally are very worn out, and yes, mostly Germans.

    Thank you!

Here's few links to RC-stores in Helsinki. There are many more of them, but i found these with quick search.
I haven't visited. You know as someone who's living in Turku, visiting Helsinki is pure poison. They stole our capitol rights in 1812 and 200 years is a time too short to forget here

    Mallikauppa
    Hobbylinna
    Silshop

I've bought my ball peen hammer just from some hardware store. Check at the larger shops or RC-shops. You should find them in Tallinn as well.
Good luck hunting for the parts and have nice times restoring your nice Le Grelot.
