Well I'm leading by a poofteenth of an inch, but not for long I guess. It's worth every penny.

Well, I'm going to bed as the owner of it... I suspect I won't wake up the same way though.

Wow! I woke up this morning to a very pleasant surprise. I really hope one of you guys gets wins this. I would hate to see a last minute sniper walk off with it for just a few more dollars.

I must tell you that when I posted this I felt good about the results and wanted to share them with you but I never imagined I would get such a positive response.

I don't know if you realize how encouraging this is. I am very greatful for your support, it makes all the hard work worthwhile.

    Thank you.

    Vlad,

It is obvious that you put a ton of work into this razor and ended up with spectacular results. Beautiful job on both the razor and the scales. Seeing work and craftsmanship like this reinforces the dream of the preservation and promotion of this fine art.

    Thanks.

Vlad I'm new and don't know razors but I know a work of art when I see it. Craftsmanship shines through. Take it from a guy who's greatest achievement is building potting tables and planter boxes (ok, I built my workbench too)... that's some mighty enviable work. I'm happy when I get my edges to mate up right and sanded smooth so they won't catch my fiancee's wrists as she works. You've got a real talent there.

I suspect I'm going to run out of budget before that razor runs out of value, though.

I just checked the auction for the first time. The razor is currently fetching a handsome sum! Completely worth every cent. If I had some disposable income, I'd certainly bid. With two days and several hours to go, this could turn into a real earner.

The time, patience, attention to detail, and effort that went into restoring that razor can't be forgotten. As a result, I've actually saved all of the images to my hard drive. I now have a true benchmark for all-out razor restoration.

Yes, you most certainly do... I don't see it getting much better than this. I did the same thing when I started making knives. I bought a Bob Crowder knife and kept it in the garage with me. I looked at it constantly and told myself that this was how good I wanted to get. There came a day when I felt I may have even exceeded the goal I had set for myself. So, for all you potential restoration technicians, I suggest you put these pics up in your garage.

    Bill,
You've got it all wrong! They should win this razor at auction and put it in their shop as real inspiration.
