Thanked: 1936Borderline repairable blades
Kind of proud of how a couple restores came out and wanted to share. I received a couple blades a few days ago that were almost too far gone to bring back. I mean this because the rust on the edge was deep.
I apologize in advance for the crappy photo's.
Thiers-Issard SRP Razor: Rust in a couple spots on the bevel, side of the hollow, and really bad on the spine. Took a lot of hand sanding to get right. Cleaned up well, will have to take out approximately 1/64th to get to good metal on the edge.
Wapi: Deep rust on the spot that you can obviously see. Took a LOT of hand sanding! Once I got the rust cleaned up I took it to the stones. Had to take a little more than a 64th to get to good metal, but it is a great shaver. Shaved with it today and was pleased.
Will post completed picture in the next couple days.

Thanked: 1936I've yet to hone the TI, but as you can see it cleaned up well:
As did the Wapi, which was a great shaver as well:
I look forward to shaving with the TI...

Nicely done on those, I'm sure they will give years of great shaves.
Always good to see hand sanding can do such a fine job on such badly damaged blades.
Kinda envious of the TI - it's a beauty

Thanked: 1936I'll get it pinned in a few days. Anyone know what the scales finish coat is made of? I'm going to try to get that blue dye from the leather pouch out of them.

They look like they are brand new from the pictures, I can't thank you enough for fixing these up, and you will be the fist one I go to if I ever plan to get rid of them
