Well crap, I didn't get it even with my high snipe... drove the other guy up another $90 at the last second though
You're welcome lol...
Hope I get at least one of the boxes!

I threw the boxes out on e-bay without any expectations. Curiosity was killing me to find out if there is an interest. The other question was how much were people willing to pay on auciton for them?
I simply let the guys here know that if they miss this cheap opportunity another one won't come for a while. If these things will go cheap I'd rather have an SRP member get them.
Just don't go nuts and bid more than you can order one custom made from me.

Looks like I might have to commission a custom razor from you though since I seem to be incompetent at bidding (10 more bucks on my snipe and I'd have beat that guy... maybe I'll get lucky and get a second chance offer )
Think you could do one with barley sheaves instead of the leaf/vine inlay you did on this one?

Some Things Aren't Meant To Be
Don't believe I didn't agonize over it. The Rosewood was absolutely calling my name, but I had to tell her (yes, it's a woman), "Sweetheart, I'm not right for you. I'll only run around with more than three razors and make you jealous. Go find someone who can give you the life you need, the life you deserve. Don't worry about me. I'll get along. I just want you to be happy". We both wept, but as I turned back for one last glance I saw her expression changing already. She was looking forward to her future with wonder and anticipation for what she would soon hold. I wiped the last wistful tear from my cheek and smiled through my broken heart.

She'll be happier at my house anyway. She'll have one of her sisters to share time with when she's not spending quality time with me.

I can do any design in brass. If you have a sketch or a picture of what you want send it to me and I will do a mockup for you to see before I make it in brass.
I will list a few more auctions on e-bay of my work but after that will just do one a month for promotional purposes. I will be putting my restoration on my own website once it is up and running and stick to doing commissioned projects. I figure that in my spare time I can do 3 to 4 a month, tops.

X,
I'll have to make a 7-day set box and put it up for auction to test your defenses for a weakspot.

Nah, vlad, he was less than one full bid increment above my snipe (the bid increment is $2.50 at that level and his bid is only $2.33 above mine). That means that while yes, he did put in his bid before I did, I topped out his bid and he was maxed. One bid increment above his max on the snipe and the W&B would be coming to my house instead. If my snipe bid would have been for $282.50 instead of $277.67 which is heck, that's only FIVE dollars over what I maxed out at Of course, I would have had to be telepathic to know all that in advance.
Thanks for trying to cheer me up though I had myself convinced I was going to win it, I was already thinking about where to display it heh. Makes me feel better to know you're not hanging up your sandpaper just yet!

Thanked: 8I think I'll crawl back under a rock and keep my pathetic restorations to myself.
The bloody bar keeps rising..
Great stuff Vlad, now I wonder what my Henckels will look like ????
If this was an Olympic sport, Vald would take the gold. I would get a rusty steel washer with the comment, "attempt made".
