Default Latest project, W&B 6/8 with Bloodwood scales.

Well, every time I do this I tell myself never again. But here is the latest, if not the greatest restoration result. It is fresh from the oven. I've been plugging away 12 to 14 hours a day for last two weeks and 3 of those days went on this razor set.

Everything on this razor took double or tripple time from what I expected. I was so tired and frustrated with it, when I was done I cleared out all my snipe bids, not wanting to see another razor for restoration. I may sleep it off and resume again but definitely not right away.

The scales are Bloodwood with my own brass inlays (I don't know if they can be called bolsters.) I used a clear plexiglass wedge and a brass spacer on the third pin. The blade does not touch it, it is used only to spread the scales and prevent them from pinching the tang when the blade is closed. The CA finish gave me fits for about 4 hours, but in the end turned out great.

I did not use washers for pinning and promised myself that this is definitely the last time. I had a hell of a time tightening the pins. With washers it took a fifth of the time.

The only thing that went as planned was the Ebony/Bloodwood box with which I am pleased.

I listed it on e-bay, the usual 3 days, no reserve if you are interested it's all yours. Listing here.

Let me know what you think of this one.

Vlad, you're MAD! This blade is so beautiful it's PERVERSE! Amazingly, the box does it justice! I'd spend a lot of money to get one of these beauts! The kicker is that there actually is only one.

P.S. I see that you also shop at Tony's
P.P.S. Your stuff ROCKS! You may want to mention the restoration logo's significance.

That's a beauty Vlad! I love the shape of those scales, and the brass accents are very nicely matched to it.

I thought the last W&B you did was unbeatable, but I was wrong. Unbelieveable, amazing! Wow.

I actually prefer the last one which is saying a lot because I love this one too. Why is it I love everything you do Vlad? My lament is that I can't afford what they'll rise to. Oh hell, I'll bid anyway! Hurry up and make another one!

Amazing work for sure. How on earth did you craft such fine bolsters/inlays? The detail in the piece is incredible.

    Thank you for the appreciation.

If I were an actor, I would probably be one who can't stand the sight of themselves on the silver screen. I always have to distance myself from the work before I can feel good about it. Your feedback makes me feel better about it in short order. It is very much appreciated and very motivating.

Matt, the brass is etched the same way that I etch printed circuit boards. The level of detail possible is on the order of a thousandths of an inch provided the artwork has this level of detail.

I can now confidently say that I can create brass inlays for custom scales. This opens up a world of creative possibilities.

Once, I've physically recovered from the latest work sprint I will finish the other set of scales that are already in progress.
