X,
I remember you wanted a box for razors. So you can get one as a consolation prize.
I listed 3 3-Razor boxes. The photos don't do justice to the Mayan Rosewood, it is darker than in the pictures. The African Mahogany is simply beautiful luminescent grain. I have a video of the African Mahogany box with only one coat of tung oil and you can see the way the grain plays in the light. Video 16MB
These are boxes so I don't expect bidding to go crazy, you can probably pick one up for a really good deal. Only one has a bid and it is $.99 which is 99% discounted from what I would make a custom 3 razor box for. The rest are sitting without bids.
e-bay auctions here: African Mahogany, Lacewood, Mayan Rosewood.

My God, Vlad, that is breathtaking. I love the scales and the bolster work. I'm going to try and win it (I got the ok from the future missus for a higher than budget attempt) but I still might not win because that set is off the hook. I'm not being nice on any of your auctions anymore, I'm bidding as much as I can (and I also intend on trying to win the boxes) and when the smoke clears let he with the biggest budget win. If I don't win this one I may very well contact you about a commissioned piece and then I'll just start saving my pennies.
Good luck to the rest of you gentlemen.

Wow, that's just incredible. It just looks so pristine like it will dance on your face without having to do a thing
Just curious as to what process you use to bring the metal to such a mirror polish?

Gary F., if you do go the commissioned route I hope you won't be in a hurry. I am looking forward to full time employment soon and will only be able to continue restorations in my spare time. I look forward to being able to do this on a more leasurely schedule.
Toxik, sandpaper and a lot of elbow grease. I described the process in the W&B Meatchopper restoration. It is really doable by anyone who has the patience to sand a blade for about 8 to 10 hours.
It seems that the latter is considered a rare talent.

I hope you guys that want a box have a snipe bid set on a box. Since I am starting a full time job where I will make more in one 8 hour day programming than I can make in a 60 hour week making boxes. So I don't think I will be making any to list on e-bay.
This will probably be the last chance you will get to pick one up cheap. If you were to order one of these boxes it would run you a cool $90. I was just curious to see if there is a demand for boxes. It is not something I am planning on doing again.Last edited by vladsch; 06-14-2006 at 03:42 AM.

Congrats on the new job Vlad, but I have to say ... it's also kind of a shame at the same time

Congrats on the job, bummer on the boxes, but rest assured I have snipe bids set on every one of your auctions I might wake up poor and indebted to you up to my eyeballs tomorrow...
