So you would use #0 for the outside and #0-wide for the inside?

You can just use #0 but if you want to you can put the larger one underneath the #0.

Thanks Gary. That makes my life easier and I prefer a more streamlined look. I will also try brass tubing, just to see what looks better. Thanks to Tox I even know of a place very close to the local census office where I go for meetings where I can get that stuff. Nenad is having the scale blanks cut on Monday. The Butler is going to be back in the rotation and the W&B is going to become the newest member

Nice Firestart, post a pic or two when they are sorted.

Double washers are OK if you want a chunky look on large scales but can be OTT on slimmer smaller scales.

Exactly, especially since I don't have and am not planning to get anything over 6/8. I also like a slimmer, more streamlined look. Especially once I get those plexiglass scales.

I just had a very disturbing thought: what about inlaid fancy oversized 'washers'? Like I don't have enough precision craft projects on the burner. Just thought I'd pass this along so some of you won't sleep more than I do ;-)

Check this out for fancy washers and pins. If your centre piece is the right size, you can fit your pin right through it, and peen it all together like a sandwich. Apparently Bill Ellis was the first to use this type of decorative pin for knives. They are fairly common in the knife world now, I believe. I don't know alot about knives, just info I've picked up here.

These can be done with the same type of brass rods that are used for pins, just different sizes. I've picked up some of the rods and tubes and made some interesting pieces, with clear or colored epoxy.

There are also the fancy rivet heads formed by custom rivet dies. I've considered this, but it involves too much work for someone who is only going to use it a very few times at most. Especially at the small scale we're talking about in regard to str8s.

However, I'd like to know if there are any other sources for pins and collars, besides Classic?
